OUR STORY
The Ministry of MSME conceived the Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) to address the needs of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). Khadi benefits and struggles from centuries-old brand lineage; the program aspires to build on patronage and develop associations with high-end domestic and international markets. The Centre of Excellence for Khadi is envisaged to be a Centre for experimentation, innovation and design for Khadi fabrics, apparel, accessories and home fashions.
VISION
& MISSION
CoEK is set out to make Khadi a universal, classic and value-driven brand. The objective is to enable Khadi Institutions (K.Is) to effectively design, produce and market high-quality, differentiated Khadi products in the Indian and global markets.
OUR
STRUCTURE
CoEK is set up at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) as NIFT, Delhi as the hub and four more centres; Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, Kolkata and Shillong as the spokes.
CoEK is creating benchmarked design processes of global standards by designing new fabrics and products based on season-wise colour directions and fashion trends.
We are creating visual merchandising and packaging for new Khadi products, which will increase Khadi's global reach by organising or participating in Khadi Fashion shows and exhibitions.
We are disseminating quality standards for Khadi fabrics and clothing for high-end domestic and global markets.
OUR ACTIVITIES
As part of the Knowledge Portal, a team of professionals at the CoEK team will share design directions to enrich the process of product development for Khadi Institutions.
We are creating engaging narratives around the new Khadi fabrics and products for branding and publicity of Khadi.
