Metpalli Khadi Gramodyog Pratishthan
It’s a one of the oldest institution in the country started in 1929 under the All India Spinners Association ( Charkha Sangh) founded by Poojya Mahatma Gandhi. After Independence, the activities of All India Spinners Association were entrusted to the institution formed in various states and A.I.S.A was amalgamated in Sarva Seva Sangh (Sarvodaya Sangh).
After liberation of Hyderabad State, in 1951 Hyderabad Khadi Samiti was created for Hyderabad state Poojya Swami Ramananda Tirtha who led liberation struggle was the chairman of HKS (Hyderabad Khadi Samiti). In 1967, as a result of decentralization of HKS Metpalli Khadi Gramodyog Pratishthan was formed separate institution in Telangana region.
There are about 500 + NMC spinners and 200+ weavers currently working under the Khadi Institution
Metpalli Khadi Gramodyog Pratishthan, Hyderabad has five Khadi Bhandars. One is in Metpalli and others are in, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Sircilla and Nirmal.

Bijli Fabrics
These are the fabrics woven from the space dyed yarns, since they represent the shape of lightning, they were called Bijli fabrics. Such fabrics are also woven at the Khadi institution.
Lungi
Plain Lungi is also woven at the Khadi institution. They come with various colors and designs, some of them have colors in stripes, some also have intricate dobby designs.
Fabric Yardages
The Khadi institution specializes in manufacturing fabric yardages of different types, mainly plain yardages, yardages with space dyed yarns and some yardages with dobby patterns.
Hand Spinning
Hand spinning being the core of the process has been quite successful here, The KI is also looking forward to expand their spinning center.

Warping
The warping creel has the capacity of more than 300 reels and each reel holds upto 150 - 200 metres of handspun yarns.
Weaving
The process of weaving begins after drafting and denting the yarns. Here, pedal looms are majorly used for weaving.
Infrastructure
At the moment, the KI has more than 15 looms each with 2 shafts weaving fabrics.
Skill Mastery
The weavers of Metpalli are majorly weaving at 5 different locations, however their skills are commendable. Weavers of Metpalli are able to weave more than 4 meters of fabric on the pedal looms.
